Vienna is the state and capital of Austria, as well as one of the nine administrative regions of the country. It is the smallest state in Austria in terms of area, but at the same time one of the most important, both politically and culturally.

The Vienna region includes the city of Vienna and several surrounding towns. Although it is a small region in terms of area, it plays a key role in the life of Austria. It is the administrative center of the country, where the headquarters of the central government, international organizations (such as the UN and OPEC), as well as many important cultural, educational and economic institutions are located.

Geographically, the Vienna region is located on the Danube River and is surrounded by the state of Lower Austria (Niederösterreich), which forms the border with other parts of the country. Despite being a small region, Vienna has a diverse architecture, from historic palaces to modern districts. There are also green areas, parks and vineyards that stretch out on the outskirts of the city.

This region is economically dynamic, with developed financial, technological and tourist industries. Thanks to its importance, Vienna plays a key role as an international centre, not only in Austria, but also on a European scale.
