Nairobi City is one of Kenya's 47 counties that serves as the country's capital. It is both a city itself and an administrative region, and is Kenya's largest and most important economic, political and cultural center. Nairobi is located in the southern part of the country, in the central Rift Valley Province, and serves as one of the major urban centers in East Africa.

Nairobi is known for its dynamic growth and tremendous importance as a business, financial and transportation center. The city is home to a number of international organizations, including the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) branch, and many multinational corporations. Nairobi is also a popular tourist destination due to its proximity to national parks, such as Nairobi National Park, which lies just on the outskirts of the city.

The city has a population of more than 4 million, making it one of the largest cities in East Africa. Nairobi combines modern architecture, rapid infrastructure development and numerous cultural and historical attractions, with more traditional neighborhoods and a diverse community.

Additionally, the county also has protected areas, such as the aforementioned Nairobi National Park, which is an important wildlife conservation site.
