The National Capital Region (NCR) is the most developed region of the Philippines, encompassing the country's capital and 16 surrounding cities. It is the economic, political, cultural, and educational heart of the Philippines. The NCR is one of the most populated regions in the country, with a population of over 13 million people.

The region is characterized by great diversity, both culturally and urbanly. The NCR includes cities such as Makati, Quezon City, Pasig, Taguig, Mandaluyong, Caloocan, and many others, each with its own unique identity. Makati is the financial center, Quezon City is the main administrative center, and Pasig and Taguig are the thriving business districts.

As part of the NCR, Manila serves as the political center, home to the government and most state agencies, as well as a cultural center, with numerous museums, theaters, and historical sites. The region is also home to intense commercial and industrial activity, with many international companies and businesses.

Because of its importance, the NCR is not only a place of major investments but also challenges, such as problems related to urbanization, transportation, pollution and social inequality. Nevertheless, the Manila region remains a key point on the Philippine map, being a symbol of the country's development and modernization.
