The Diocesan Museum in Torun is housed in a former bourgeois house, built in the early 16th century, which is an example of a Torun storehouse - a building that served both residential and storage functions. To this day, you can still see the hypocaustum - a medieval underfloor heating system, a Gothic washbasin, a spiral staircase, a beam-and-slide ceiling and illusionistic wall polychromes.
The collection of the Diocesan Museum in Torun is very diverse. On display are numerous sacred monuments that have ceased to serve a utilitarian function. Thanks to them, you can immerse yourself in the history of Toruń and the Chełmno land. The oldest monument in the museum's collection is a ceramic architectural detail from around 1300.Their origin is not clear, although one hypothesis allows them to be associated with the Teutonic castle in Bierzgłowo. The youngest object is Jerzy Kossak's painting Miracle on the Vistula, painted on the 10th anniversary of the Battle of Warsaw.
