Kcynia

The Kcynia municipality is one of five municipalities in the Nakiel district of the Kujawsko-Pomorskie voivodeship. Beautifully located is the town of Kcynia itself, whose panorama delights those entering the town from all sides. It is undoubtedly the most picturesque town in the Paluki region, located on a moraine hill (136 meters above sea level). The municipality of Kcynia is an integral part of the historic region of Pałuki in northeastern Wielkopolska. It lies in the northern part of the Gniezno Lake District, which is part of the Wielkopolska Lakeland. Since 1.01.1999, the city and municipality of Kcynia has been assigned to the Nakiel County in the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Voivodeship. Kcynia is located on the border with Wielkopolskie Voivodeship and neighbors the municipalities of: Szubin, Nakło, Sadki, Żnin (Kujawsko-Pomorskie Voivodeship) and Gołańcz and Wapno (Wielkopolska Voivodeship).

The Kcynia municipality is one of the largest in terms of area in the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Voivodeship, occupying 29,702 hectares. The interesting location of the municipality, the abundance of forest complexes, the town's rich historical past, historical monuments and the abundance of animal life and undergrowth encourage visitors to hunting, agro-tourism and recreation on individual farms. From Kcynia comes, among others, Jan Czochralski world-famous scientist. Jan Czochralski is called by many the father of the electronic revolution. His method (called the Czochralski method), which consists of a technique for obtaining monocrystals, found application to semiconductor physics and the electronics industry, providing tremendous opportunities for the development of many fields of industry. This achievement has been given the title of "Milestone." The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers designates outstanding, epoch-making technical achievements in the field of electrical and electronics as so-called Milestones, thus emphasizing the highest rank of these achievements.

Within the municipality there is an early medieval stronghold in Grocholin. There is a Museum of Nature and Hunting in Turzyn. The Sanctuary of the Holy Cross in Kcynia is also worth a visit. Its peculiarity is the Late Gothic crucifix from the first half of the 16th century placed in the center field of the main altar. Adjacent to this church is the Calvary with a picturesque polychrome of the Stations of the Cross made in the classicist style in the early 19th century.

The historic manor house, or so-called Village House, built in the first half of the 19th century in classicist style, surrounded by a park with a circular driveway, is home to the Klara Prill Community Center for Culture and Library. Here one can admire the effects of the work of folk artists. Indeed, Kcynia is still a strong center of Palučian folk art and folklore radiating to the entire region.
