Wigry National Park is located in Suwałki, in northeastern Poland.
The park is distinguished by an extraordinary wealth of lakes surrounded by vast forests. In addition to the largest and famous for its picturesqueness, Lake Wigry, the park has 41 more natural bodies of water. A peculiarity are the drylands - mid-forest, small dystrophic lakes (with acidic water rich in humic substances), surrounded by a floating blanket consisting mainly of peat mosses. The Czarna Hancza River, a tributary of the Nemunas, flows through WPN. In the northern part of the park flow rivers with a rapid current: Kamionka, Wiatrołuża and Maniówka.
