Since August 27, 2016, you can visit the one and only Museum of Polish Song, which has chosen the Millennium Amphitheater in Opole as its headquarters.
The museum's exhibition outlines the history of Polish song from the 1920s to the present day. The role of the multimedia player is played here by two musical walls, on which touchscreen monitors are placed displaying music videos, excerpts from concerts, TV programs, reports and interviews with artists. Each visitor is given a set: an audio guide and comfortable headphones, allowing him or her to visit the exhibition individually and listen to selected songs for as long as they want.
There are also lenses placed in the musical walls - through which, as through a keyhole, the visitor can peep into the historical background of a particular period.
A hit at the museum has been the song recording booths, where each visitor can record his or her favorite song and email it as a souvenir.
- The most important thing for us is to show that songs are created through collaboration between composer and author. I notice that for some time now, the media have been talking only about the performers, leaving out the songwriters, most likely because the latter are less attractive to them in the media. In our museum, we want to emphasize that if the composer and the author had not met, there would not have been many great hits," says Jaroslaw Wasik, director of the Museum of Polish Song in Opole.
In the Museum of Polish Song, lovers of the Opole festivals will find detailed information about each edition, and in special suspended spheres, fans of popular music can spend hours watching reports and excerpts from concerts. There is also a place dedicated to stage fashion, where real costumes of stars have been collected, and where one can virtually dress up in them.
The museum invites you to meetings with artists, concerts, as well as museum lessons and educational activities for the youngest.
We invite you to the Capital of Polish Song.
