Jarosław

The impression that Jarosław makes on visitors is second to none. For centuries the city has delighted visitors with its magnificent monuments, and can charm them with its rich history and peculiar atmosphere. It is one of the most interesting and beautiful cities in southeastern Poland.

Its history dates back to the first half of the 11th century, when the town of Nadsany was located only on St. Nicholas Hill. In 1375 Prince Władysław Opolczyk moved the town to a neighboring hill, granting Magdeburg city rights in the process.

As early as the 15th century, Jarosław was of great economic importance due to its attractive location at the crossroads of important trade routes. The city's power grew even more in the 16th and 17th centuries, thanks to the world-famous Jarosław fairs of the time.

Today, Jarosław is an extremely interesting city, bearing the traces of numerous cultures, abounding in various events, among which the August Festival of Early Music “Song of Our Roots” and the Jarosław Fair - a several-day festival of trade, theater and music, during which, as in the past, one can encounter a mosaic of colors and aromas from different corners of the world - deserve special mention.
