Zagroda Jamneńska – a cultural island
Zagroda Jamneńska is a new place on the map of tourist attractions in Central Pomerania, where you can get to know unique culture, take part in interesting workshops, and maybe even come across a mischievous elf.
The official opening took place in April 2019 and immediately became a popular place, which is eagerly visited by vacationers resting in the nearby seaside towns: in Mielno, Unieście, Łazy, Chłopy, or Sarbinowo. The charm of this place is also eagerly enjoyed by the residents of Koszalin, who proudly show it to their loved ones and friends coming to visit from other parts of the country or abroad.
The history of Jamno, which is now part of Koszalin, is unique. Due to the fact that for many centuries the village - and its history dates back to the 13th century - was located among the wilderness, marshes and swamps, it was isolated from the rest of the world not only geographically, but also culturally. And it is this unique culture that can be learned about at the exhibitions in the farmstead.
The exhibition, which tells about what life was like in the old Jamno, consists of two parts - interactive, where you can, among other things, see a model of the old Jamno or dress up in a copy of the Jamno costume. In the second part - the exhibition - you can see how the inhabitants of Jamno lived, what equipment they used. There are unique polychrome furniture, everyday objects, farm tools.
- The furniture that makes the greatest impression on visitors is beautifully decorated with characteristic ornaments - admits Anna Michalik from the Jamno Farmstead. - They also look with interest at the bed alcoves where the household slept. In such huts, people lived together with animals and cut themselves off from them with curtains.
The beautifully decorated festive costumes of the former inhabitants of Jamno also make a big impression. - Tourists eagerly take advantage of the opportunity to dress up in such a costume - women's or men's. Women can also try on the so-called czółko, a lace headband and a wedding crown, and men - a wedding hat - adds Anna Michalik.
Children are very impressed by all the interactive attractions and they carefully look into every corner to spy a sneaking julek, a dwarf from folk tales. Although it is not easy, a trained eye will pick out his shadow.
Throughout the year, Zagroda also organizes handicraft workshops related to art and craft. - In the first half of the month, you can take part in art classes, and in the second - in ceramics - specifies Anna Michalik.
The workshops have a wide range of topics - they cover both general topics and those based on Jamno culture. Interestingly, these meetings are organized in various spaces of the Jamneńska Farm: in the rooms of the reconstructed cottage, the garden, the educational rooms of the barn.
They are therefore far from what we are used to at school. Participants do not have to sit in desks - they use the large floor space that gives more opportunities for movement, and in situations requiring it, you can rest on soft, comfortable pouffes.
- We focus on classes that will arouse the curiosity and motor skills of children and young people. By introducing workshops for the youngest, we stimulate all the senses of the little ones visiting us. The rural yard, garden, home pantry are a treasure trove of materials that we use for classes - we read on the farm's website, where you can find the necessary information about the upcoming planned workshops.
We invite you!
