Burgruine Aggstein
The legendary Aggstein castle ruins tower above the Danube at a height of 300 m on a rocky outcrop that slopes down on three sides.
Probably founded by the people of Kuenring at the beginning of the 12th century, it acquired its basic form, which has been preserved to this day, a good three centuries later. A fantastic view of the Wachau opens up from the boldly placed, spacious walls, which can be easily reached by car or via the Way of St. James from Maria Langegg.
