Krzyżtopór Castle in Ujazd is now one of the largest buildings in Poland preserved
in a state of permanent ruin. It was built between 1621 and 1644 as the magnate residence of Krzysztof Ossoliński, Sandomierz voivode, in the "palazzo in fortezza" style. Legend has it that the castle was built on the model of a calendar and had 4 towers - as many as there are seasons, 12 large halls - as many as there are months, 52 chambers - as many as there are weeks and 365 windows - as many as there are days in a year. In 2018, it received the status of a Monument of History. Tens of thousands of people from both Poland and abroad visit Krzyztopór every year. Many events are organized during the tourist season to popularize history and promote the region. The calendar of events is available on the website of the Cultural Institution Krzyżtopór Castle in Ujazd. Five sightseeing tours have been prepared for tourists. Guided tours are also available on site. For those thirsty for excitement, night tours of the castle with a guide are offered in two versions - Standard and Premium. The first version features a guided night tour with torchlight illumination, a meeting with the ghost of the White Lady, while the second version additionally includes demonstrations of duels by a knightly brotherhood in the castle courtyard and court dances in the ballroom. In October there are Ghost Nights, and in November there are Evenings of Divination and Magic. During the tour, download a free app that shows what the castle might have looked like in its heyday. After the castle tour, the Castle Café, located in the SMOK bastion, serves specialties such as "Black Knight" or "White Lady" coffee and delicious cakes and ice cream. It is impossible to pass by the souvenir store, from which it is difficult to leave empty-handed. The institution has a rich offer for schools, organized groups - in addition to guided tours, historical lessons, art classes and Christmas workshops are available. For companies, it is possible to rent conference rooms that can accommodate up to 250 people. Krzyztopór is also an ideal place for a wedding ceremony or photo session. Right next to the castle runs the Green Velo bicycle trail, a treat for lovers of active recreation. Krzyżtopór Castle in Ujazd was awarded a PTO certificate - a distinction as the best tourist product in 2023. The castle is extremely popular and highly appreciated by visitors. In 2020, it received the first Golden Pinezka - a distinction awarded on the occasion of the 15th anniversary of the launch of Google Maps, as the province's best-rated tourist attraction by users. It received its second Golden Pinezka in 2023, this award underscores the importance of the castle as one of the most important attractions in the Świętokrzyskie province. In 2024, the Cultural Institution Krzyżtopór Castle in Ujazd was recognized by the Chapter of the Leaders of the Region Award in the History and Culture category.
