Swiebodzice is located in the southern part of Lower Silesia, about 30 km from the border with the Czech Republic in the immediate vicinity of Walbrzych and not far from the district capital, Swidnica. Świebodzice is located in the middle course of the mountain river Pełcznica, in the Świebodzice Foothills, at the foot of the Walbrzych Mountains, in the immediate vicinity of Książ Castle and the adjacent Książański Landscape Park.
Among the city's monuments, the following are worthy of special attention: the classicist town hall, the complex of medieval defensive walls, the Romanesque Church of St. Francis of Assisi with its valuable polychrome paintings, the Church of St. Nicholas, with its chapel of St. Nicholas. The church of St. Nicholas, which houses the restored sarcophagi of the Hochberg family, or the Church of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul, built on a cruciform plan with projecting risalits along the entire height of the walls and a square bell tower, passing into an octagonal tower topped with lanterns, covered with Baroque helmets and spires. An attraction for those seeking active recreation is the rich sports infrastructure: the Aquatic Recreation Center, a sports and performance hall with a gym, an outdoor summer swimming pool, a skatepark, a bowling alley and numerous green areas.
