The mission of the Maria Skłodowska-Curie Museum in Warsaw is to popularize the biography and achievements of the outstanding Nobel Prize winner at home and abroad. The institution is located in an 18th-century building at 16 Freta Street, the birthplace of Maria Skłodowska-Curie. The museum's collection includes an extensive collection of original notes, letters and photographs of the scientist, her personal objects and family heirlooms. Also on display are measuring instruments used by the Curie couple. The museum also conducts educational and publishing activities. Two exhibitions are currently open to the public at the museum.
The "Who are you Maria?" exhibition shows the various roles Skłodowska played in her life. Varsovian, daughter, wife, student, researcher, mother, social activist - these are still just some of them. What was the basis of her discoveries? How did she combine her professional and private life? How did she cope with adversity? How was it that with her attitude she was ahead of the era in which she lived? These are the questions that will accompany us while visiting the exhibition. Most of Warsaw's mementos of Maria Skłodowska-Curie were burned in 1944, in the bombed Radium Institute. The few surviving items, such as Maria's personal and business correspondence, her last desk and her father's gold watch, have found their place in the exhibition. Visitors will also have the opportunity to see numerous photographs of the scientist from various stages of her life. The theme of the exhibition is an installation of flowers related to Maria's history.
