The District Museum in Torun is one of the oldest and largest museum institutions in Poland, operating continuously since 1861. It has its headquarters in the Old Town Hall, and has as many as seven branches:
- Old Town Hall
- Nicolaus Copernicus House
- The Museum of Toruń Gingerbread
- The Museum of the History of Toruń in the Esken House
- Tony Halik Museum of Travelers
- Museum of Far Eastern Art in the Tenement House under the Star
- Museum of the Fortress of Torun
The museum's collections include masterpieces of Polish painting, works of art from the Far East, priceless souvenirs from the travels of Tony Halik and Elzbieta Dzikowska, unique gingerbread molds, copernican and archaeological finds. The institution carries out a rich educational and cultural program - organizes temporary exhibitions, meetings, workshops, lectures, international competitions and special events such as the Night of the Museums. It also carries out publishing activities, publishing catalogs, albums and popular science books.
