Stargard is the third largest city in the West Pomeranian region. It is home to nearly 70,000 people. It lies 40 km from Szczecin, 180 km from Berlin and 120 km from the ferry terminal in Swinoujscie. The city lies on the border of two geographic regions: Szczecin Lowlands and Szczecin Lake District, which has a great impact on the diversity of landscape types in the immediate area. The 15th meridian of eastern longitude, which is the main meridian of the Central European time zone, runs through Stargard.
The preserved historic buildings are able to satisfy the most sophisticated connoisseurs. The unique atmosphere of the Old Town is emphasized by the still legible medieval street layout and the nearly three-kilometer-long planty surrounding the Old Town. Stargard's monuments are included in the European Brick Gothic Route. Importantly, a fantastic panorama of the city (and in good weather even of Szczecin), can be admired from the tower of the Hanseatic collegiate church. The building has the status of a monument of history - one of 48 objects and areas representing the most outstanding group of monuments in the country.
Stargard successfully operates the Industrial Park of Modern Technologies, located on the site of the former military airport. The total area of the PSTP is about 850 hectares. Huge global corporations operate there, but also smaller entrepreneurs.
