Uniwersytecki Ogród Botaniczny w Zielonej Górze

The University Botanic Garden in Zielona Góra, also known as the Botanic Garden of the University of Zielona Góra (OBUZ), is currently the westernmost and the only botanic garden in the Lubusz Voivodeship.

OBUZ has a complex organizational structure involving multiple entities. The grounds of the botanic garden are owned by the City of Zielona Góra and managed by the Municipal Housing Management Department, which contracts a company responsible for technical maintenance. The garden is part of a larger nature and education complex that also includes a mini-zoo. The University of Zielona Góra oversees the garden’s educational, scientific, and curatorial activities.

By decision of the General Director for Environmental Protection of July 7, 2015, and with the positive recommendation of the Council of Botanic Gardens and Arboreta in Poland (ROBIA), the garden in Zielona Góra was entered into the ministerial register of botanic gardens under the name Botanic Garden of the University of Zielona Góra. This register lists institutions that meet the requirements of the 2004 Nature Conservation Act. The permit for OBUZ covers the botanic garden area, excluding the mini-zoo.
