Zamek Czocha Dolny Śląsk

9 127 Level 1

Description

Czocha Castle is a picturesque fortress located in Sucha, Lower Silesia, on Lake Leśniańskie. Its history dates back to the 13th century, when it was erected as a border fortress at the behest of King Wenceslas I of Bohemia. Over the centuries it has undergone numerous reconstructions and changed owners, obtaining its current fairy-tale appearance.

In the early 20th century, the castle was transformed into a residence by German industrialist Ernst Gütschow. After World War II, it served as a training center for a while before being opened to tourists.

Today, Czocha Castle is not only a tourist attraction, but also a hotel and restaurant, offering a unique atmosphere for visitors. Visitors can tour the Knights' Hall, the library and the tower with breathtaking views of the surrounding area, among others. It's also a popular venue for historical events and open-air movies, which highlight its unusual character.
