The "Dunajec" castle in Niedzica was built in the first half of the 14th century by Kokosz Berzewicze, as a fortalition defending the northern border of Hungary. From then on it remained in the hands of Hungarian families until 1945 - although after World War I it was incorporated into Poland. The last owners of the castle were the Hungarian Salamon family. After World War II, the object was nationalized. After inventory, design and construction work, the Ministry of Culture and Art handed over the castle for use by the Association of Art Historians in 1950. Currently, the castle runs a museum and guest rooms.
