Description
The Museum of Mazovian Nobility in Ciechanów is a cultural institution organized by the Local Government of the Mazovian Voivodeship.
The museum began its activities on January 1, 1973, under the name of the Castle Museum. Three years later, the name was changed to the Historical Museum, which in 1979, by decision of the Governor of Ciechanow, was transformed into the District Museum. In turn, by Order No. 1/98 of the Governor of Ciechanow, dated January 13, 1998, the name was changed to the Museum of Mazovian Nobility, and in December of the same year, by decision of the Minister of Culture and Art, the museum was entered in the State Register of Museums. With the liquidation of Ciechanow Province, the museum was given the status of a local government cultural institution. In 2023 the Museum of Mazovian Nobility in Ciechanow celebrated its 50th anniversary.
The museum's administration headquarters and exhibition building are located in two buildings, located in Ciechanow, on Warszawska Street. Ciechanow is also home to the museum's most valuable historical landmark - the Castle of the Dukes of Mazovia, while a branch of the Ciechanow museum - the Museum of Positivism - is located in Golotczyzna, a few kilometers away from Ciechanow. The museum conducts a wide range of exhibition activities. It organizes, among other things, exhibitions, lectures, museum meetings, competitions, workshops, museum lessons, as well as concerts and outdoor events. These activities are focused on organizing projects aimed at audiences of all ages, aiming to interest a multi-generational society in its cultural identity. For many years the museum has been the main organizer of outdoor events such as: "Zajazd Szlachecki", "Review of Zapusty Disguise Bands", "Flowers of the Gardens", "Mazovian May Music Making", "Meetings with History" and "Castle Time Travel". More recently, a series of concerts "Music of the World in the Mazovian Manor" and a series of exhibitions under the common title: Masters of European Art" have joined the ranks of these events.
