231st Anniversary of the Kościuszko Insurrection - Outdoor Event of the Polish Army Museum at the Warsaw Citadel

"Vivat Nation! Vivat Freedom! Vivat Kościuszko!"

The Kościuszko Uprising was an armed national uprising against the occupying powers that broke out in 1794. It was a response to the Second Partition of Poland and Russian control over the country. The uprising was led by Tadeusz Kościuszko, a general and hero of the fights for independence of Poland and the USA.

On the occasion of the 231st anniversary of this event, on March 22-23, we invite you to an outdoor celebration at the Polish Army Museum at the Warsaw Citadel. The program includes: shows by historical reenactment groups, a presentation of heavy armored vehicles, educational workshops, a container shooting range, a COBI building zone, competitions and games for children, and many attractions for entire families.

Event Program

Saturday, March 22, 2025, 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM

"Archaeology of the Battlefield" - an exhibition of exhibits from the Polish Army Museum from the Kościuszko Uprising.

Shows by historical reenactment groups - Soldiers of the 4th Regiment of the Great Crown Mace from the times of King Stanisław August, soldiers of the Gdańsk Garrison infantry regiment from the 18th century, civic banners, civilians and clergy from the times of the First Polish Republic. Campaign of the Polish Army - camp and equipment of soldiers in eighteenth-century uniforms.

Shows:

12:00 PM - regimental mortar show

1:00 PM - fire show and military drill according to the Gdańsk regulations from 1733 and the period of the Kościuszko Uprising. Learning military drill with the audience

14:00 - A story about soldiers' and officers' cuisine - kitchen equipment and quartermaster secrets

15:00 - Another demonstration of a regimental mortar, followed by a presentation of the Great Banner of the City of Gdańsk - a story about its history

15:30 - Presentation of reenactors of the 4th Regiment of the Great Crown Mace - a demonstration of drill and firefighting elements

16:00 - Joint demonstration of the methods of combat of the 18th-century line infantry

17:00 - Military surgeon - demonstration of procedures with the audience, and at the end of the event a shot from a regimental mortar

Historical workshops

"Soldiers' uniforms and armament through the ages" - prepared by educators from the Polish Army Museum. Possibility to try on replicas of weapons and uniforms.

Thematic stands of the Polish Army, military institutions and universities:

- presentation of vehicles used by the 1st Warsaw Armoured Brigade named after Tadeusz Kościuszko: M1A1 Abrams main battle tank, MRAP armoured vehicle – with increased resistance to mines and ambush attacks, shooting equipment of the brigade soldiers

- promotional and educational stand of the 2nd Mazovian Sapper Regiment: reconnaissance robot medicines, portable patrol robot, mine detectors and other sapper equipment, sapper path, guide with a dog

- thematic stand of the 25th Air Cavalry Brigade named after Prince Józef Poniatowski: 2025 assault team with equipment and weapons, pilot and parachutist equipment, mortars and rocket launchers, firearms, reconnaissance devices and parachutes

13:00 - Insurrection over coffee. About tableware with revolutionary motifs

14:00 - Lecture on Wojciech Bogusławski's play entitled "Miracle Supposed" - associated with the outbreak of the Warsaw Insurrection combined with the performance of two arias from Wojciech Bogusławski's opera "Miracle Supposed" with piano accompaniment

10:00-16:00 "Assalto!" Board games in the times of Kościuszko - learning military and strategic games
