Bran Castle

Bran Castle, often referred to as 'Dracula's Castle', is a historic fortress located in Bran, near the city of Braşov in Romania. The castle is perched on a rocky outcrop and was built in the late 14th century. Its strategic position allowed it to serve as a defense against invading forces, primarily the Ottoman Empire. Despite its association with Bram Stoker's fictional character, there is no evidence that Vlad the Impaler, the historical figure upon whom Dracula is based, ever lived in the castle.

The architecture of Bran Castle features a mix of Gothic and Renaissance styles, characterized by its tall, pointed towers and thick walls. Inside, visitors can explore a series of rooms and halls filled with exhibits, showcasing the history of the castle and its former royal occupants, including Queen Marie of Romania who undertook renovations in the early 20th century.
