The theater is a Greek and Roman theater. It was first built by Emperor Hadrian. It was then renovated by Septimus Severus in the 2nd century AD. The construction of the theater took about 150 years. Reconstruction took about 40 years. It was restored by the Italians. The capacity of the theater is 12,000 spectators. Ghost Rider 2 is also filmed in this cinema.
