About
The municipality of Strzegom is a large stone center with Strzegom granite mines, called the Granite Heart of Poland.
The town of Strzegom is located in the southwestern part of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship in Świdnica County on the Strzegomka River.
Towering over the town is the Minor Basilica of St. App Peter and Paul from the 14th century, which is one of the largest and most beautiful Gothic buildings in Lower Silesia. Another unquestionable tourist attraction is the Market Tower, built in the second half of the 14th century, which is the only surviving structure of the medieval Market Square. The historical landscape of Strzegom is further blended with medieval defensive walls built between 1291 and 1299, with the Beak Tower preserved in Strzegom's Planty, as well as the Carmelite monastery complex, which now houses the “Carmel” Social Activity Center with a Tourist Information Point and a small local “museum.”
