Liw Castle, located in the picturesque Masovian Voivodeship, is a historical gem whose origins date back to at least the 15th century. Built at the request of the Masovian princes, the fortress was strategically located in the Liwiec River backwaters. Over the centuries, it has undergone several expansions, including under the rule of Duchess Anna Radziwiłł and Queen Bona Sforza. The interiors of the tower and the reconstructed cellars of the Grand House - currently a gallery of temporary exhibitions - have a unique atmosphere. In addition to the massive buildings from the era of brave knights, visitors can admire the manor house built in 1782. Its construction was financed by Tadeusz Grabianka - the then starost of the Liw region. It was the seat of the chancellery of this office and a meeting place for local elites. Today, it houses the main exhibition of the museum.
In addition to its historical significance, Liw Castle is also known for its beautiful scenery, making it a popular destination for both tourists and history enthusiasts. The idyllic setting of the castle offers the opportunity for peaceful walks along the banks of the Liwiec River and for nature observation. Liwa Castle invites you to the culinary festival In the Castle Kitchen on the Trail of Mazovian Princes, which will take place on June 29, 2025. This year marks the 200th anniversary of the publication of the cookbook by Marcjanna z Jawornickich Oborska (1784-1878), who was an heiress of Proszewo and the author of a valuable manuscript collection of culinary recipes that is an important source of knowledge about the life of the landed gentry and culinary in Eastern Mazovia and Podlasie. The festival is an excellent opportunity to taste regional dishes, learn about the culinary history of the 19th century, visit artisans' stands and admire handicraft demonstrations. We invite you to discover the traditions and flavors of the region!

We would like to invite you to the XXII Tournament of Knights at Liw Castle, which will be held on August 9, 2025.
Every year in August, the grounds of Liw Castle host the Tournament of Knights for Princess Anne's Ring, which features numerous re-enactments and even falconry demonstrations.
Liw Castle was saved from destruction during World War II thanks to an archaeologist - Otto Warpechowski. He convinced the Nazis that the castle was a Teutonic castle, thanks to which the castle was not destroyed.
