Church of Our Lady of Fatima
Description
The church was rebuilt in 2014-16 on the site of an earlier church, also made of wood, which burned down on the night of December 2-3, 2013. The object is oriented, single-nave with a tie beam structure. The roof is covered with shingles. The rebuilt church is listed on the Trail of Wooden Architecture in the Silesian province.
The former church dates back to 1957 and was built in a picturesque mountainous area, just off the Main Beskid Trail. The site is meant to commemorate the apparitions of the Blessed Virgin Mary that took place at Fatima in 1917. The choice of Our Lady of Fatima as the patroness of the shrine was not only related to the fortieth anniversary of the apparitions, which was celebrated at the time, but also to the pastoral traditions of the Stecowka glade.
