Istebna is located in the very south of the Silesian province, belonging geographically, historically and culturally to Cieszyn Silesia. It is the seat of the municipality, which also includes Koniaków and Jaworzynka. Located on the gentle slopes of the Silesian Beskid, the villages, right on the border with the Czech Republic and Slovakia, form the so-called Beskid Triple Village. These are the highest located villages in the Silesian Beskid. The area is extremely picturesque and dotted with countless viewpoints. There are many hiking trails, several walking paths, bicycle routes, Nordic walking. There are also cross-country ski trails in the area.
Wooden architecture is the pride of the Beskid Tri-village. Wandering through our villages you will see both old wooden cottages, which are often monuments, museums, and brand new, built wooden houses and inns. In the area of Istebna there are as many as four wooden religious buildings - all inscribed on the Trail of Wooden Architecture of the Silesian Voivodeship. The centuries-old devotion of the local people to their faith has resulted in local churches housing the works of the country's most outstanding folk artists, as well as professional painters and sculptors who live here. Lokalni twórcy ludowi do dziś tworzą swoje rękodzieła, które można zakupić w lokalnych galeriach, muzeach czy w Gminnym Ośrodku Kultury. In the area of Istebna there are several folklore groups cultivating ancient dances, songs and rituals, as well as folk ensembles that in their work reach back to the sources of Carpathian music. The vast majority of local tourist attractions are associated with these assets.
