Regional Museum “Na Grapie”

6 43 Museum

Description

The museum takes the form of a small open-air museum, as a historic cottage, barn and a traditional blacksmith shop were moved to the site. The wooden house, the so-called "kurlawo cottage," dates from 1920. Its chamber contains a unique "kurny stove" and other elements of traditional highland home furnishings. In the vestibule, which divides the house into two parts, a place has been found for agricultural tools and skis, or "skize" and "tyniny", which are indispensable in this area in winter. In the second room, an exposition was prepared to introduce the once popular activities in the area, such as weaving and shepherding.

In a barn from the 1930s, various types of old agricultural machinery and equipment have been collected. The museum hosts exhibitions of non-professional art, exhibitions presenting customs and rituals related to the annual cycle, and educational workshops. Interesting lectures are given here on the old way of life of the highlanders, their culture, customs and costume (in one of the chambers there are mannequins depicting its various forms). A new addition to the museum is the traditional Carpathian Plant Garden, which is under construction next to it.
